Project Management

Copper River IS brings high-level consultative insight to each project, backed by the industry’s best project management expertise to ensure that projects receive accountable, reliable attention from inception to fulfillment. Our experienced, Project Managers are supported by decades of engineering and technical expertise enabling us to offer the highest level of project oversight and logistics management.

Our Project Management approach is aligned with our Services Delivery/Engineering approach applied to each project—Plan, Design, Implement, Operate (PDIO)—as shown in Figure 1. Using industry best practices, this methodology is flexible to accommodate each project’s specific requirements. The key to implementation success is the upfront planning. We recognize that while any implementation has the potential for problems or challenges, we realize that it is necessary to focus on the early stages of planning the implementation.

This approach alleviates the chances of any significant problems and helps to mitigate risk during deployment. We re-visit planning throughout project execution using a process of progressive elaboration. Figure illustrates the alignment of Copper River IS’s services delivery methodology, PDIO, to the global project management standard and lists representative tasks for each phase. Quality and Risk Management are performed throughout.

Led by the Project Manager (PM), the Copper River IS Team, comprised of all required management and technical resources, will address each functional area of a solution as a separate task; each task representing a portion of the entire solution with dependencies and cross-functional areas. Team members may be assigned to more than one Project Team or transitioned to a Support Team depending on the skills of the Team member and the skills required to complete the task. Each functional area is defined as a Project Team. Supported by Project Team members, PMs will:

  • Ensure the objectives of the Project Team are met
  • Ensure the objectives of the Solution are met
  • Manage the performance of functional areas
  • Manage functional areas to the established budget and schedule
  • Mitigate project risk
  • Report functional area and project performance

By structuring the implementation team in this manner, Copper River IS is able to deliver complex, robust solutions to our customers within expected timeframes and budgets. Risk is mitigated and each functional area of the solution receives focused attention from experienced professionals fully dedicated to ensuring the success of customer projects.
